Adding a moving background to your PowerPoint presentation can significantly enhance its visual appeal, making it more engaging and captivating for your audience. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to do it:
1. Insert a Video
First, you need to have a video file that you want to use as your moving background. To insert it, click on the ‘Insert’ tab in your PowerPoint toolbar, then select ‘Video’ and choose ‘Video on My PC’ (or ‘Video from File’ for Mac users). Browse through your files, select the video that you want to use, and click ‘Insert’.
2. Set Video Properties
Once your video is inserted, click on it to reveal the ‘Video Tools’ tab in the toolbar. Under the ‘Playback’ tab, select ‘Automatically’ from the ‘Start’ drop-down menu. This will ensure that your video starts playing automatically when you move to the slide.
3. Set the Video as Background
To set the video as your slide background, you’ll need to resize it to fill the entire slide. Click and drag the video’s corners to expand it until it covers the whole slide. You can also right-click on the video, select ‘Size and Position’, and manually adjust the height and width to match your slide.
4. Send the Video to Back
Right-click on the video and select ‘Send to Back’ to ensure that any text or other elements on the slide are visible above the moving background.
5. Hide Media Controls
You should also hide the video’s media controls so they don’t appear on your slide. To do this, go back to the ‘Playback’ tab under ‘Video Tools’, and uncheck the ‘Show Media Controls’ option.
Remember, while a moving background can make your presentation more engaging, it’s essential to use it appropriately. The video should not distract from the message you’re trying to convey with your presentation. Always preview your slides to ensure the video enhances rather than distracts from your content.
