How can I lock my PowerPoint slides to prevent editing?

You can protect your PowerPoint slide from being modified by following these steps:

  1. Open your PowerPoint presentation.
  2. Click on the ‘File’ tab in the top left corner.
  3. From the dropdown menu, select ‘Protect Presentation’.
  4. You will see options such as ‘Mark as Final’, ‘Encrypt with Password’, and others. If you want to completely lock your presentation, choose ‘Encrypt with Password’.
  5. Enter your desired password in the ‘Password’ field and again in the ‘Reenter password’ field to confirm it, then click ‘OK’.
  6. Now, whenever someone tries to open your presentation, they will be prompted to enter the password.

Note that this method only prevents unauthorized access to your presentation. It doesn’t completely prevent editing. If you give someone the password, they will have full editing rights. However, you can control who has access to your presentation by keeping the password confidential.

If you want to allow viewing but prevent changes to your PowerPoint presentation, you can convert your PowerPoint to a PDF. Here’s how:

  1. Open your PowerPoint presentation.
  2. Go to the ‘File’ tab and select ‘Save As’.
  3. Choose the location where you want to save the file.
  4. From the ‘Save as type’ dropdown menu, select ‘PDF’.
  5. Click ‘Save’. Now you have a view-only version of your PowerPoint presentation.

Remember, converting your presentation to a PDF will keep the format and layout of your slides, but it will prevent all types of editing. Also, animations, transitions, embedded videos, and other interactive elements will not work in a PDF.
